Andrés Palladino Sisto: 'Beekeeping Connects Me with Nature and Sustainability'

Isla de Coche, Nueva Esparta. In addition to leading Agropecuaria Isla de Coche to the top of the shrimp farming industry, Andrés Palladino Sisto has found his personal passion in beekeeping. What started as a curiosity has transformed into an activity that combines his interest in the environment, sustainability, and connection with nature.

"I have always been fascinated by ecosystems and how every small element has a huge impact on the whole," Palladino confesses. "A few years ago, during a trip, I discovered the world of bees and their essential role in pollination and biodiversity. Since then, I set out to learn more about beekeeping, and little by little, I fell in love with it."

In his free time, Palladino spends hours taking care of his hives, located on a plot near the coast of Isla de Coche. "It is a very meticulous process, but at the same time relaxing. You learn to observe, to be patient, and to value the tireless work of these small creatures."

For Palladino, beekeeping is not just a hobby; it is also a way to understand the balance between productivity and sustainability, a value he seeks to apply in all areas of his life, including his business. "At Agropecuaria Isla de Coche, we have implemented sustainable practices in shrimp farming, and I believe that has a lot to do with what I have learned from bees: working in harmony with nature."

This passion has also allowed him to connect with the local beekeeping community, exchanging knowledge and promoting the conservation of these essential pollinators. "It is incredible how a small gesture, like taking care of a hive, can have such a big impact on the flora and fauna of the region. It makes me feel part of something greater."

Although beekeeping is a personal activity, Palladino does not rule out expanding this practice into a community project in the future. "I would love to teach younger generations about the importance of bees for the environment and how their care can also be an economic opportunity for the region."

With this lesser-known facet, Andrés Palladino Sisto demonstrates that behind the visionary entrepreneur is also a passionate defender of nature, committed not only to the economic development of Nueva Esparta but also to caring for the planet.
